(BIG, LOUD AND LIVE 5!) DCI CHAMPIONSHIPS SHOWN AT OPRY MILLS THEATRE

The DCI Championship Quarterfinals will once again be broadcast LIVE from Opry Mills Theater! Experience live performances of the top 17 corps from the 2008 DCI Championship Quarterfinals on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 5:00 PM.

Seating is limited, so order early to guarantee your place on the 50 yard line for one of the biggest events of the drum corps season. Tickets are available on the Big Screen Concerts Web site: www.fathomevents.com and may be purchased at the Opry Mills theater box office.

Titans Games-Update

If you have signed up to work the Titans game we will have a brief meeting Tuesday at 9:00 in the band room. We will go over parking, times and attire. Please plan to attend this short meeting. If you have questions please call Kelly Davis at 889-5542.

Recycle Inkjet Cartridges

Please bring your empty inkjet cartridges to the band room and drop them in the recycle box. The cartridges will be recycled for profits going to the general band fund. We will receive $2.00 per cartridge turned in.

---More Fundraising Opportunities--CAR WASH---

August 9th from 8am-4pm McGavock Band will be holding a car wash at Donelson Christian Church. The church is located at the corner of Lebanon and Fairway, across the street from the Dollar General. We need students to sign up to work the car wash. All profits will be split with anyone working. Shifts are 8 to 10, 9:45 to noon, 11:45 to 2, 1:45 to 4. We will need approximately 10 students per shift. You will hold signs for one hour and wash cars for one hour. Please call Kelly Davis at 889-5542 to sign up.

Fundraising Opportunities

Believe Brochure sales will start July 10th. Orders and money are due July 24th. Profits can be used toward band camp fees. Students will receive 60% profit from this sale.

Smart Cards are here!!! July 10th you can check out and begin selling Smart Cards. Each card is $12.00 and your profit per card will be $7.00. Check out up to 10 cards from Davidson and surrounding counties. Turn in payments and check out more cards. Any cards paid prior to July 24th can be applied to band camp fees.

This year we will also be selling popcorn and suntan lotions/oils. This sale will start July 10th and end July 17th. The money and orders are due July 17th and profits can be applied to band camp. This product will be delivered before band camp so order your sunscreen and popcorn for band camp and earn profits towards your account. Fundraising Opportunity-Titans Home Games

We have the opportunity to sell non alcoholic frozen drinks in the stands at the 8/9, 8/15, 9/7, 9/21 and 9/28 games. We need 30 people, students and adults, per game. Shirts will be provided. All you need is khaki shorts/pants.

You will be paid per cup sold. Average sales are between 150-175 cups per person. You also get to see the game!! GO Titans.

We can work the Vandy Home games as well. Only 10 folks are needed per game. Because of marching schedules this will have to be adults only. 9/4-Thursday night game. 9/13 game (tentative rehearsal for students). We can also work the 10/4 game (BOA KY) and 10/25 (COC). Parents who want to attend finals only may want to work these games. I will need to know if we have volunteers for the Vandy games or these will be giving to another school. Sign ups will be on a first come basis. Call Kelly Davis at 889-5542 and let me know what games you want to work and who will be working.

Please include the following information in your e-mail or phone message: your full name, grade level, phone number, instrument, years of instrumental study, and which orchestra you are auditioning for.
Audition requirements:
• A prepared solo
• All major scales and arpeggios
• All melodic minor scales and arpeggios
• Sight-reading

GFS Marketplace is offering McGavock Band an excellent opportunity to earn cash for your Childs fair share account. It is simple, all you need to do is fill out and mail the invitation and start earning.

The amount earned is based on the total amount spent by the band family per quarter. All we have to spend is $4500.00 per quarter and we receive the max of 10% profit. This is pre taxed purchases. You do not have to save receipts or manage this in anyway. Just shop at GFS Marketplace and earn.

CHAIR FUNDRAISER

Dear friends and supporters of the McGavock Band & Orchestra:

The McGavock Band & Orchestra is in the process of purchasing Musician Chairs for use in the instrumental rehearsal room. These chairs are specially designed to emphasize posture and correct air support.

We hope you will financially support us in this endeavor with a tax-deductible donation of $100, which will purchase one chair and corresponding transportation cart. Full donations of $100 will be recognized with a personalized engraved plate on the back of the chair. Partial donations are also welcomed, but will not qualify you for a personalization.
