| A Native of California, Mr. Scott David Steward carries with him a very coveted history both as a music educator and respected professional trumpet player. Prior to his professional career, Mr. Steward performed as a soloist for the Freelancers and Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps. Eventually, Mr. Steward found himself at California State University, Sacramento as lead trumpet in the "A Jazz Ensemble"
and Principal trumpet for the "CSUS Wind Ensemble"
which gave him many opportunities to play in front of some of the music industries finest guest conductors and recording artists. This exposure soon lead him to eventually perform side man with artists such as The Drifters, Jack Sheldon, Jimmy Smith, Stan Mark, Joe Gilman, Bill Watrous, Louie Bellson, The Buddy Collette Quintet, Milt Burnheart, Buddy Childers, and Morgan Britney.
Other credits include playing in Disneyland's "Magic Kingdom Korps," nine months in the Tony and Emmy award winning show "BLAST," and three years with the Paul Cacia Jazz Orchestra. Now, as a resident of Tennessee, Mr. Steward holds the position of lead trumpet with one of Contemporary Christian Music's well known bands- "Denver & The Mile High Orchestra". Scott has also performed recorded with two recent American Idol Finalists - Mandisa and Melinda Doolittle. When Mr. Steward is not on the road with Denver, he can often be found in various studios and live performance venues in Nashville working as a professional trumpet player.
Aside from his credits as a performer, Mr. Steward has also racked up some very noteworthy credits as an educator. During his time in California, Scott landed his first instructional staff job with the many time BOA Grand National finalist "Etiwanda High School". In addition to Etiwanda, he found himself on staff with many other reputable high school band programs in the Southern California area for many years such as the numerous SCSBOA champion "Chino High School".
Since his move to Tennessee in the summer of 2002, Scott has worked on staff for Brentwood High School, Smyrna High School, Columbia Central High School and Mt. Juiet High School. Today, Scott is proud to hold a position as brass instructor and private lesson instructor for the McGavock High School Band. Scott is also a brass instructor for Spirit From JSU Drum & Bugle Corps as well as brass instructor and solo performer with Nashville's own Music City Legend Senior/All Aged Drum & Bugle Corps. In addition to his work as an instructor, Scott is also an adjudicator for the US Scholastic Band Association (USSBA).
In addition to continuing his career as a professional musician and instructor, Scott is also furthering his own education by finishing his undergraduate degree in Music Education at Cumberland University; where he is also the brass instructor for the "Cumberland Band Of Phoenix Marching Band".
