MCI Week Information (UPDATED 10/11)

MCIIt is here! The Music City Invitational is one of the most respected and well known contests in Middle Tennessee. It is so incredibly important for everyone to help out and to be where they should be when they should be there.

A reminder that ALL STUDENTS MUST WORK at MCI and it is required for STUDENT’S PARENTS (OR VOLUNTEER) TO WORK TWO 4 HOUR SHIFTS. This is to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

If you have not volunteered yet, please contact Debra Webb (debra.webb@capitol.tn.gov) or contact one of the chairpersons in file below.

Please also pay close attention to the detailed itinerary for this week. We have a game against Franklin and WKRN will be here to film on Friday early morning for the March to the Top competition with the percussion line – then MCI on Saturday.

McGavock Wind Ensemble @ TMEA Conference

announcement

Congratulations to the 2016-2017 McGavock High School Wind Ensemble for being selected by invitation to be a part of the 2017 Tennessee Music Educators Association Conference at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in April of 2017. The Wind Ensemble was selected by a panel of judges based on recordings from the past years and was one of three high schools selected from the entire state to perform. We are humbled and honored to be a part of this prestigious and selective event.

Congratulations to all the students (including those who have since graduated) who contributed to the audition recordings that made this all possible!

The Wind Ensemble is looking forward to this incredible musical journey. This will be a performance that students are likely not to forget!

READ: Important Updates

  1. A reminder that all students must be present at every rehearsal as per the band handbook policy that all students and parents signed prior to camp. Any emergency absences must be conveyed by parents to the directors by email ahead of time. As we learn new drill and prepare for the upcoming performances, it is extremely vital that every student is present at every rehearsal.
  1. An adjustment to the schedule for Tuesday evenings is in effect starting next week.  All Tuesday rehearsals will be 6-9PM for all students.  This is in effect for various reasons and should also help out with the extreme heat recently.  The band rehearsed on Tuesday evenings for 20+ years until 2 years ago when it was adjusted. Thank you for your understanding and any adjustments that need to be made. Students will now be able to get a breather before rehearsal, do homework, eat dinner and then return for a great evening rehearsal under the lights.
  1. The TICK TOCK show shirt is on sale until Thursday, August 25th.  The extended order form is on our website. Click here for form!
  1. Uniform fittings are starting soon. Please see the uniform flier that was handed out in classes from Ms. Dusty WIilliams and also on our website for more information about required clothing, gloves, shoes, and compression garments. Click here for the form.

  1. The August Band Booster Parent Meeting is this Monday, 8/15 in the NE Cafeteria. Make sure to be an active supporter of your student and the LONG BLUE LINE. It takes everyone helping out in different ways to make the band season a huge success.  STAY IN TOUCH, BE INVOLVED!
