Midstate Flute Workshop Opportunity

Mid-State Audition Workshops for Flutes

  • Michelle Browne and Abi Coffer will be conducting comprehensive 2.5 hour long workshop sessions for all age flutists trying out for Mid-State. They will cover all aspects of the audition including:
    • how to control nerves
      • how to play the perfect scale
      • how to be a better sightreader
      • how to stand out from the crowd on prepared music
      • how to maintain a clear and focused tone when auditioning
      • how to exude confidence while playing
  • There will also be a flute repair tech on hand to do adjustments and minor repairs to flutes during the workshop so that instruments are in top shape for the audition.
  • Cost is $40 for the workshop and $20 extra to get their flutes checked out.
  • Location is KHS America, home of Altus, Azumi and Jupiter flutes. Address: 12020 Volunteer Blvd, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122.
  • Dates:
    • Tuesday, November 14th – 4:30 to 7PM for 9/10th grade (register by 11/10/17)
    • Tuesday, November 14th – 6:30 to 9PM for 11/12th grade (register by 11/10/17)

First Playoff Game

The band dealt with more adversity this past week and came through with a great performance in many ways, despite the extreme cold and delay of the start of the contest at the CONTEST OF RESILIENCE at Spring Hill HS. The band members came a long way this season and learned many life lessons this year and grew as individuals. They became a team, showed GRIT and made special things happen this past week at rehearsals.  Thank you again for all of your support along the way. Something as big as the McGavock Band requires a lof of help and assistance from many people!  Parents play such a vital role in the season. Once again, thank you!  The annual Band Banquet is where all students will be recognized for the season and we celebrate this special year. The full year calendar is on CHARMS and the banquet is set for 4/28/18.

The band will travel to Brentwood HS for the first football playoff game to support the team in the stands. All of the detailed times are now posted on CHARMS and can be found at this link.

A reminder, per the handbook and fall marching calendar published in May, all playoff games are mandatory for all marching band members!
